This is the Official Website of Michael O'Brien, known as one of the so-called Cardiff Newsagent Three. Michael O'Brien together with his two co-accused: Ellis Sherwood and Darren Hall, spent eleven years and forty three days in prison for a crime they did not commit. Before finally clearing their names at the Court of Appeal in 1999.
Michael was educated at St Francis Junior School and Mostyn High School in Ely now known as Mary Immaculate. Michael Also Educated Himself whilst in prison and taught himself Law. Michael has won a number of successful cases At the Appeal Courts and the House of Lords respectively. Upon Michael's release He attended College Glan Hafren and later attended Glamorgan University.
Michael has appeared in numerous documentaries including: Panorama, Esther Ranzen and is a regular contributer to Tv, Radio, Magazines and Newspapers. Michael has also appeared on chat shows such as Trisha, Killroy and This Morning. Michael has also featured in international publications in China, Holland and Australia and has featured in Radio programmes overseas.

Michael Supports the work of the Innocence network which involves students from at least 20 University`s across England and Wales actually investigating Miscarriage of justice cases. The Innocence Network was the brain child of Dr Michael Naughton of Bristol University and with Julie Price of Cardiff University have worked tirelessly together to help wrongly convicted people. Michael hopes other universities will join the innocence network. The work Dr Michael Naughton and Julie Price has put into the network has been immence.
